As we 'get older', are we meant to feel older? Are we meant to behave older? 

 

Apparently, being in your 50s is the new 30s! I love that idea. But what does that mean?                                I’ve raised children, I’ve had a career, I’ve gone through the menopause, what now?

I can’t be the only woman of ‘a certain age’ who thinks that, can I?

​

Having taken early retirement two years ago, after 34 years of dedicating myself and my family to a career in education, I've found a sense of freedom and space that I've not felt for a long time.

​

But what am I meant to do with that freedom and space? At 22, my son has moved out after finishing uni and for a while, there was a huge void that I couldn’t fill. My husband loves his job and doesn’t want to retire for a while...so what about me? What do I want?

​

I’ve always journeyed through life as though I was running a marathon, but now I have the time to take a brisk walk instead! Enjoying the freedom and space.

So, I’ve been asking again…what about me? What do I want?
