I’m Lorraine Sage, the founder and owner of Sage Proofreading & Copyediting Services.
I qualified as a professional proofreader and copyeditor in June 2022 with a distinction in a level 4 QLS; this is recognised as a qualification in specialist learning, and it involves a detailed analysis of a high level of knowledge and information in proofreading and copyediting.
I am a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and follow the CIEP’s Code of Practice which provides a set of best practice for me to encourage and ensure good professional relationships.
I achieved a 2:1 in a BEd (hons), specialising in English and Humanities in 1988. Having been a teacher for 34 years, and an English Subject Leader for much of that time, I have shared my love of language with children and staff to enable them to achieve high standards in their writing.
I have always been passionate about words and language, and I am a strong believer in the superpowers of punctuation and grammar! It has been my long-held tradition to want to correct inaccuracies in any type of writing around me…a restaurant menu with spelling errors can have me in tears!
I retired from teaching in September 2022 because I became excited about the reality of beginning a business in something that I knew I already excelled in and that I love doing.
An obsessive hobby turned into a career? Perfect!
